The Three Guṇā
You’re warmly invited to join us for a morning of chanting, sanskrit and experiencing the power of sound.
Stream 1. For those new to Sanskrit or those with only a little experience:
We will continue our investigation with the guṇāh, the three primary forces of creation according to Advaita Vedanta. Guṇa can be translated as quality, attribute or property. According to Vedanta the three guṇāh are inherent in all things (both mind and matter) in creation. Therefore they can help us understand our thoughts, feelings and actions.
We will use the Sanskrit text Bhagavd Gītā and chant some verses. And we will continue this study in Term 3.
‘The three guṇas known as sattva, rajas and tamas work right down to
the last detail of creation.’~ Śrī Śāntānanda Sarasvatī
