A TALK BY DONALD LAMBIE Wednesday 10 July
A golden mind stoops not to shows of dross. (‘Merchant of Venice’ II.vii.20)
Donald Lambie, the Leader of the School of Economic Science in England and the head of the worldwide Schools of Philosophy, will be visiting Australia in July and giving a talk on ‘Living in the Golden Age’.
There are stories across the world of a time when humanity lived in perfect harmony with the universe, ruled by perfect wisdom. This was the ‘Golden Age’. As the story goes, the Golden Age prevails for some time before declining by incremental degrees into a Silver Age, then a Bronze Age and finally an Age of Iron. As the ages dim from gold to iron, so does humanity’s capacity for perfect wisdom. That’s the story embedded in myths and legends across the world.
However, it may be that any age could be called ‘golden’ if it brings forth golden minds everywhere. This talk will be about such a possibility.
As the head of the worldwide schools, Donald Lambie comes to Sydney every four years, so if you’d like to attend, please register online as seating is limited.
