PLATO AND THE MODERN WORLD ONLINE
PLATO IN THE MODERN WORLD ONLINE: 8 -15 AUGUST 2021
Enjoy 7 days devoted to the philosophy of Plato, and our own exploration of philosophic enquiry.
In the Laws, Plato’s last work, the great teacher of the West turns his attention to the world around him and applies the universal truths of philosophy to the complex particulars of the everyday world.
The purpose of this study event is to consider the challenges facing the world today in the light of the wisdom of Plato’s Laws, and to discover the relevance and urgency of Plato’s last great masterpiece of philosophy and political enquiry: The Laws.
The programme will also include the study of Plotinus. Meetings will be scheduled to provide for multiple time zones and will incorporate a full morning of study and a block of late afternoon or evening study. The program will include meetings conducted by Dr Horan as well as a full programme of guest lectures.
These Plato events are primarily intended for students of the School attending philosophy groups, who are meditating.
See below for how to book for this event.

"Like an individual human being, the city should live well. And to live a goodly life it is first necessary that we ourselves do no injustice, or suffer injustice at the hands of others......... The same principle also applies to the city; if it becomes good, its life is peaceful, if bad, its life is a battle, internally and externally. " ~ (Plato's Laws, Book 8)
BOOKING FOR PLATO IN THE MODERN WORLD
Bookings this year are directly through Ireland School's website where students firstly select their time zone and complete the form as requested, all fields are mandatory. The payment amount defaults to the standard fee of €80 but if there are circumstances where a student requires a discount we ask that they contact Chris Heeks.
As the booking forms are based on our existing website formulation, you will see that students are asked to Choose Class, after their time zone. They should select ‘All days’ (their only choice) it’s just the way the site is set up so they needn’t be concerned about this.
You will be given a login code so that you can access the portal for your particular time zone and so keep track of bookings as they come in. It shows name, email and telephone numbers. I will have access to the full information such as level of experience etc. When the bookings are in then we will be able to make groups within each time zone. These Plato events are primarily intended for students of the School attending philosophy groups, who are meditating.
Booking deadline: Saturday 24 July 2021
