Vivekacūḍāmaṇi
For those with a little more knowledge of Sanskrit, you’re invited to join us in sounding and studying a verse from the Vivekacūḍāmaṇi, ‘The Crest-Jewel of Wisdom’, a work attributed to Śrī Ādī Śankarāchārya jī. The Vivekacūḍāmaṇi is classified as a prakaraṇa grantha, an introductory text to advaita vedanta; although, with around 580 verses it may be too long to be regarded as merely an introductory text. A translation of the verse to be studied is:
‘That by which this universe is pervaded, but which Itself is not pervaded by anything; which shining all this universe shines accordingly as Its reflection. This is That.’
