YOUR SUPPORT IS ACCEPTED WITH GRATITUDE

Thanks to generous community and student support, for more than sixty years volunteer tutors have delivered courses in philosophy, meditation and mindfulness that support greater self-awareness, clarity and a sense of community service. In our programs we explore how wisdom - teachings from diverse traditions - can be applied in a contemporary context, making philosophy a lived practice rather than an abstract discipline. Our work is to nurture and educate students to enhance wisdom within, self-knowledge and freedom at the individual level; this leads to each student’s capacity to uplift the community in which they live.

PHILANTHROPY - THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT

With ongoing support, through generous donations of time and money, we have been able to educate and support our students and help them become more conscious, capable and compassionate members of society.

Participants in our non-denominational courses frequently report enhanced mental clarity, improved emotional resilience, and an increased capacity to respond constructively to the challenges of modern life. These personal outcomes translate into tangible social benefits: students become more effective in their families, workplaces, and communities, contributing to social cohesion, civility, and constructive civic engagement.

A SPECIAL THANKS

Donated funds are crucial for the ongoing viability of our organisation and the conservation of our properties, especially our spiritual home, Mahratta, at Warrawee.

Mahratta is a magnificent, NSW heritage listed home and gardens, the latter designed by Paul Sorensen, the famous landscape designer of The Everglades, Leura. It is where the majority of Residentials are held.

We have been honoured with gifts and bequests from the following donors and take this opportunity to thank them and express our gratitude.

Friends of Mahratta has raised valuable funds for over 10 years for the beautification of the interior. Projects include new curtains and furniture in the Art Deco style – thank you.

BUILDING FUND

For more than four decades over 100 students have donated monthly to the Building Fund.

Mr Neville Bailey has made a significant Major Gift to the conservation of the building. His gift has enabled the repair and replacement of the guttering, eaves and removal of asbestos. This Project is underway (May 2026) and has stopped further damage to the building caused by water ingress.

Bendigo Bank – Linfield has also contributed to the guttering and eaves project, as above.

To all of you, thank you for helping to conserve our heritage listed home.

GARDEN FUND

This is a new fund and we welcome donations.

Mr Chris Heeks has contributed to this fund which will advance the Fence Repair project, planned for 2027. Chris thank you not only your numerous decades of leading our Gardening Team and maintaining Mahratta, but thanks also for your recent gift to help repair the heritage red brick fence.

Thank you for helping to conserve our heritage listed garden and landscape.

SCHOOL PRIORITIES FUND

This is a new fund and we welcome donations.

Meanwhile thank you to Jenny Crago who’s bequest has enabled numerous capital works, such as recarpeting and repainting, and the ongoing operations of the School.

VOLUNTEERING SERVICE

Almost all students participate in service – thank you for contributing to the running of the School.

Students become more fulfilled through two kinds of work: work with and on one’s own self; and work with and for others. This service enables individuals to use their talents to uplift the communities in which they live. As a result, their horizons become broader, their world larger, their sense of themselves more universal.

BEQUESTS

Over the years the School has received several bequests, from those who wish to remain anonymous and more recently Jenny Crago, Maureen Dunn, Helen Robin. These funds have been directed as per their Will, some details remain confidential at the donor’s request, else as mentioned in the above Funds. We thank each and every donor for thinking of us and planning ahead for future generations.
