PLATO’S REPUBLIC (CONTINUED) – BOOK 9 (ONLINE)

The Republic is a masterpiece.  In Book 9, Plato explores different systems of Government ranging from Aristocracy to Tyranny including Timocracy, Oligarchy and Democracy in between, both on a societal level and on an individual.  The entire work is an exploration and proof that the just life is happier than the unjust life even if unrecognized by gods and men.  Book 9 finishes with a penetrating study on the pleasure associated with the life of justice.

This is an ongoing study.  Newcomers are welcome.
